If Tuesday is any indication, it's gonna be a good week! Things are looking up around here!
Last week, I was so disgusted with my (lack of) progress on the Piano Key blocks that I couldn't even blog about it. Naps were rocky, Himself was away, I was in a not-so-great place. In particular, these blues were really getting under my skin. I just couldn't seem to get the colour balance right.
Though the Piano Keys are foundation pieced, the low volume-colour pairs are chain pieced before they're sewn to the foundation. I love me some chain piecing!
I really wanted all the seams on the pairs to line up perfectly with the markings on the foundation. But after (MANY!!!) rounds of tearing out stitching, I decided that finished was better than perfect. I applied the same mantra to the blues... they're done. Not necessarily perfect. #imperfectionismYesterday, the stars aligned and DT napped for 4 hours in one day! I got to work on the Scattered Geese blocks. I was so excited to be sewing that I snapped only one pic. Can you believe it?
Here we are so far! I have no idea how I'd manage this project without a design wall!
The plum-purple zone...
Yellow-lime zone...
Just one more Scattered Geese block to whip up, then I'm on to Arrow Heads! If I manage to get those done, I'll be caught up... at least with piecing the blocks. Then on to quilting... but I might be getting a little ahead of myself!
Since it's Wednesday, I'm linking up with the lovely and talented Lorna for Let's Bee Social @ Sew Fresh Quilts, as well as WIP Wednesday @ Freshly Pieced. Pop on over and check out what others are up to this week!

This looks so incredible. My mind is blown. Those geese! Those colours! This is a showstopper! Good job going with looking great instead of being perfect. I assure you, I certainly can't tell. Here's to a five hour nap for DT today!
ReplyDeleteI hate those bad sewing days, glad you've now had a better experience. It's looking fantastic!

ReplyDeleteHooray for beautiful rainbowy goodness and sewing time. Sounds like DT knew their momma needed a bit of sewing therapy. :)
ReplyDelete4-hour nap? Lucky you!!! It is coming together quite nicely.
ReplyDeleteThis looks incredibly difficult! !
ReplyDeleteIt is obvious by the beautiful progress you made.... You are in your happy place now! Your design wall is filling up with gorgeous eye candy and your hard choices are paying off.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous! I hate those weeks where nothing seems to go the right way, both at and away from the sewing machine. :P I'm glad things are looking up for you! :)
ReplyDeleteNaps times are just the best to get a few precious moments of sewing in. A good amount of my sewing in done at night after the kiddos are in bed, so I totally get it with all sewing and no snapping. Your blocks are just lovely and I am enjoying seeing so many different takes on this quilt.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Germany!
It looks amazing!! Sometimes imperfection is necessary but I certainly can't tell!
ReplyDeleteI have been know to go to the supermarket just for the biggest box of zip-lock bags available. How did we do without them?
ReplyDeleteLooking really good now - still haven't started yet, working up to it really I am. Inspired by how lovely this is turning out despite the hiccups this week.
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous! I'm glad your sewing is going more smoothly now. Can't wait to see more! Is this going to finish as a round piece or will you square it up?
ReplyDeleteLooks stunning! You've inspired me to catch up on mine.
ReplyDeleteThis is looking SO good! I'm glad you've gotten over your little hump...or out of your little rut? either way... I'm glad you're smooth sewing again!!
