I snagged a Lizzy House print (purchased in Montréal last year) from the stash and paired it with some Kona Avocado. It's one of those colours that doesn't match the name for me... I think of a lighter green when I think Avocado. You know, the one smeared in GT's hair yesterday during snacktime. But I digress...
The pattern called for home decor weight fabric... but I didn't have any I felt like using. So, I backed the print with some canvas ticking purchased for my Sewing Circle Tote. I also used a lightweight fusible batting instead of the Thermolam the pattern called for... 'cause if I had to go the LQS, it definitely wasn't going to be a 1 Hour Basket.
I didn't time myself, so I can't say for certain it was only 1 hour to make... but I can say it was quick enough that I didn't take many pics. It was fast!
This one is housing some of the baby
I'm pretty sure this won't be the last 1 Hour Basket I make. Himself admired it and thought it would be great to hold assorted stuff when he's at sea. Next time, I'll be more careful about using the prescribed materials... this one's just a tiny bit shlumpy. But it works, so it's a win.
I'm linking up today with TGIFF, hosted this week by someone not in MMQG (there's been a bit of a streak lately), as well as Finish Up Friday @ Crazy Mom Quilts.

Great post!
ReplyDeleteYeah for 1-hour projects!! Thanks for the tip -- have been seeing this around the internet but didn't realize it was a free pattern. Can't wait to see what prints you choose for Himself's baskets.
ReplyDeleteGreat pairing of fabrics for this quick fix. Your basket turned out great and it's so nice to see you found a use for it right away. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteI have seen so many of these one hour baskets! I love quick projects once in a while, and this fits the bill! Way to go Jenn!!
ReplyDeleteYour basket looks great! Love the print and how you used what you had on hand as well, those kinds of projects are always fulfilling. :) And thanks for sharing the link to the pattern, I need to remember that for future use!
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun - I've seen this and have it on my wishlist.
ReplyDeleteThis is totally on my "to make" list and seeing yours makes me want to get on it sooner rather than later!
ReplyDelete(something ate my comment, I think)
ReplyDeleteHave you seen this lady's? She successfully tackled the schlumpiness issue: http://confessionsofafabricaddict.blogspot.de/2015/06/make-list-monday-eleven-days-counting.html
Great looking basket. Something quick and easy is always rewarding.
ReplyDeleteI'll get around to one of these yet, along with the rest of my to-do list...
ReplyDeleteGreat finish! I'll have to try it some day. And yes, I know all about that denial. You've come up with a great way to camouflage the baby stuff.
ReplyDeleteVery nice fabric choices, thanks for hints, have the pattern but haven't made it yet.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I'm sure that basket would work great at sea :) May have to try that pattern for a break between large projects! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteLove that fabric. And how gratifying to have such a fast finish! Thanks for linking up :)
ReplyDeleteFunny!!
ReplyDeleteGood baby stuff tip. We do the same with the dog beds - choose ones that don't clash with the room they are in instead of the really cute but naff ones with paw-print designs.
