For my first swapped mini mini, it all began with these wee HSTs - offcuts from Dog Gone Cute Twins. And Jayne @ Twiggy & Opal's collection of black and white quilts!
But black and white alone wouldn't do. It needed a little pop! Enter Cotton + Steel Dottie in Goldilocks.
I used Yvonne @ Quilting Jetgirl's selvage binding tutorial. It worked like a charm! There wasn't quite enough C+S selvage to go around, so I had to improvise!
Here you can see one of the last of my quilt labels, the lovely C+S backing fabric, AND the fact that this mini mini didn't fit in the envelope I planned to use!

Title: What's Black and White and Read All Over? (Mini Mini #2)
Swapped with: Jayne @ Twiggy & Opal
Size: ? ( I sent it away before I measured!)
Fabric Used: Black & white selvages
Quilting: Straight lines in white radiating from the centre
Binding: Selvage from backing fabric
Backing: Cotton + Steel Basics Dottie in Golidlocks
Favourite Part(s): Using those itty bitty HST trims from my Dog Gone Cute quilts
And since Yvonne got the ball rolling on this one, there's no way I couldn't swap with her. For inspiration, I turned to my blue Kona scraps. Yvonne has a thing for blue... you might have noticed.
I made some very wee strip sets, cut 'em apart, and sewed them together again.
Who needs Eleanor Burns' Quilt in a Day techniques? If you make 'em small enough, you can make a quilt in an afternoon!
All joking aside, you should check out Quilt in a Day. But I digress. All quilted and ready to bind.
I didn't think that Yvonne's selvage binding trickery worked for this one, so I went with a 1½ inch (I think) strip that I sewed to the front and then ironed the raw edge under on the back.
Since this little quilt isn't likely to see snow again, it just had to go for a little playtime outside! I hope she likes it!
