Quilting: Round 1!
Round 3! So much better with the next line of stitching. ☺ This is when I realized I had failed to stitch my label onto the backing. Oh well... handstitching it is.
Hate. Trimming. The. Hexies. You will let me know when those hexies stop screaming, won't you?
I won't go into the gory details of how I made the vinyl back to the pouch. If you're interested, you can check out the last pouch I made to swap or the Noddlehead Road Trip Cases I made. This one's pretty similar! To keep things tidy, I opted to round the corners. As you can see, I have a fancy tool for doing this.
Bias cut bindings make me cringe... cutting into what could be a lovely strip later on and leaving weird angled bits in my stash...
This is another reason I hate bias bindings... when I join my strips, they invariably go cattywampus on me. Grrr.
Ta da! I fear it may look a bit like a potholder.
And the vinyl back with zipper closure!
Now all I need to do is find a couple little treats to tuck in there... I picked up this seam ripper with a silicone topper to grab those pesky thread bits. A similar one may also have found it's way into my sewing drawer!
I'll have to rely upon the kindness of guildmates to get this one to the November meeting of Maritime Modern Quilt Guild... something tells me I'm going to have my hands full by then!
Once again, I'm just sneaking in under the wire to call this a Monday post and link up with Anything Goes Monday, this week hosted by Till We Quilt Again!

Full hands??? Hmm..what's up??? Baaa haaa haaa!
ReplyDeleteLove this project! I've got a triangle bag in my head wanting to grow up into real life, and this hexie one has given me a firm nudge to bring it to fruition! I love the colours and the quilting and the clear vinyl. Come to think of it, I love that ripper, too; a good friend of mine gave me one last winter. And I sneaked under the wire after you to get into the party ;-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pouch! I just love it! And the seam ripper is awesome. I have one very similar that I purchased from Sew Sisters. Congrats on the finish!
ReplyDeleteGreat pouch! I was going to do hexies too but then that seemed like a lot of work ;) doing one giant hexi instead... And no, those sweet hexies gave not stopped screaming.
ReplyDeleteDon't you love being on a roll? What a cute pouch and making it with hexi's is so darn cute! I want to Thank You for stopping by and linking up with “Anything Goes Monday”. I so have enjoyed being a guest host and meeting so many new quilty friends. I just started following you through B/L and look forward to more of your creations. Your site is interesting--Love It!
ReplyDeleteOh man, I'm going to have to pull out of the swap - I can't do one anywhere near as good as this. The recipient is very lucky.
ReplyDeleteThat extra line of quilting really does make it all pop! Nothing beats a good seam ripper... and some chocolate! I hope you have fun with the swap!
ReplyDeleteFabulous! I love your hexie pouch so much!
ReplyDeleteThat is really lovely! I have yet to delve into the world of hexies, but love this...may have to be brave and try it out....
ReplyDeleteGreat pouch. Love the hexies. I can bring your pouch to the meeting if you like.
ReplyDeleteAwesome hexies, Jenn, and i am still amazed you are still cranking up those projects.
ReplyDeleteAwesome pouch Jenn. Those hexies are amazing. I like the vinyl so you can see that beautiful quilting from the back. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteI did the cutting into fabric and leaving weird angled bits in my stash thing today too. Bias binding is totally worth it, however. I only do non-bias binding when I have a fabric shortage.
ReplyDeleteBut I am still a vinyl coward. Very impressive pouch!
So I would like to thank you for the awesome pouch! I would have messaged you earlier but I just figured out how to do this whole Blogger thing today! I am fairly tech savvy but...... not to Blogger. I myself have not been brave enough to take on Hexies, but I will be soon in the future. Just so you know, Teal is one of my favorite colors, behind eggplant. Nicole had mentioned you were trying to get it done prior to having twins! I absolutely love it and wanted to reach out and thank you!
