4x7 Challenge - Week 4

Ever hear that song lyric about sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug? Well, in Week 4 of the 4x7 Challenge, I was a bug! Big plans to sew = nope!
I won't be offering up a day by day list of stuff I got done since, most days, there wasn't anything! I did manage some time in my studio whilst grandparents adored DT and I made to it to Saturday's MMQG Sew In. At Sew In, I quilted (yet another) Kona strip baby quilt. Just for fun, I timed myself... with a stopwatch... 28 minutes, 54 seconds. Organic lines à la Adrienne. Done.

And I sewed together those tiny (1 inch... ugh) HSTs from the QPPP.

Even though Week 4 was a bit of a bust, it's worth it to share it with you, dear reader. Sometimes things look at little too rosy in blogland... lovely finishes, piles of fabric cut and waiting to be sewn, etc. It's not always realistic. There are weeks when sewing/quilting can't be a priority... and that's okay. I resolved to focus on joy this year, not problems. It was a joy to sew in what time I had for it last week.

I'm linking up today with Barn Berry Designs. Thank you so much to Sarah for organizing this challenge. It was a great exercise and I look forward to taking it on again next year!

  2. JOY!! As long as you are happy with what you are doing, then everything is all good. You had your hands full with DT.

  3. Getting a little bit of sewing in is waaay better than getting no sewing in! Those tiny HST'S are adorable!
You can't be a mothering super hero AND crazy productive sewist....because, to be honest, that would simply make the rest of us look bad! You've already accomplisted a lot more than I did when Ben was a wee baby...I guess I set the bar pretty low by being proud of myself just to find time to shower and brush my teeth.
You're rockin' the multi tasking Jen!

  5. Just to get out and have a few hours to yourself to sew is quite the accomplishment! Love your organic strippy.

  6. OOOOOHHHH 1 inch hst. Now that is a tedious task but I love those colors! If you'd like to see reality in blogland, my blog is the place to visit! This very week, as I finished the heart portion of my heart quilt, I realized the last couple of rows went the wrong way- A SIN!

28 minutes to quilt a baby quilt- WOW. It takes me 28 minutes to convince myself quilting on my regular machine will be a fine idea!

  7. I don't know that song about bugs and windscreens. Can you hum a few bars? :)
Good to keep it real in blogland.

  8. You are so not a bug, Jenn! You got so much done last month, even with the little hiccup the last week. And I think it's awesome you managed to get a sew in day for a capstone. I love those wavy lines on the blue strips - so peaceful and ocean like : ) Thanks for participating in the challenge!
