I started with September's iron block. So many tiny strips...
I followed the quilting directions and did a variety of patterns in each of the background areas.
The quilting instructions called for a variety of lines... I really enjoyed FMQing this one. Lines are my thing!
And the final block of the quilt... November's triangle quilt
I had a lots of fun with this one and deviated just a little from the instructions. Instead of doing a random collection of FMQ patterns, I opted to do the same pattern in each colour. Emerald got pebbling, Capri got cross-hatching, etc.
To say I'm happy with how these turned out would be an understatement... this entire Skill Builder course has been an exercise in pushing my limits. So much FMQ! All that remains is to attach the blocks together into a finished quilt. This is my first foray into QAYG... taking this from blocks to full on quilt is a scary step!
I'm linking up today with the monthly Finishes Party. Who knows? Maybe I'll even win a prize like I did last month. ☺
And since it's Wednesday, I'm also linking up with the lovely Lorna's linky (say that 5 times fast).....

I really like that you kept the FMQ pattern the same in each color in the November block - my heart loves things like that! And hooray for meeting your goal for February, too. You are on a roll!
ReplyDeleteWell done!!! I knew you could do it. The blocks look great.
ReplyDeleteThe blocks with all their free motioning glory look amazing!
ReplyDeleteThe next step would scare the crap outta me too, haven't been there OR done that!

I like the idea of QAYG to keep the quilting manageable on a domestic machine and allow you to play with the different motifs. Well done!
ReplyDeleteWow! They look great! The FMQ on the iron block looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteAmazing!!! The fmq is amazing enough, and then just taking the time to change thread color to match the fabric would drive me bonkers. I get annoyed when my bobbin runs out;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous finish! I really like the variety of quilting. I still have 2 days to finish mine---I'm still hopeful. I just need to square it up and bind it and then photograph it of course. I'm hoping to square it up today while my 2 1/2 year old is home and then bind tomorrow when I have a kid-free sewing day!!
ReplyDeleteAlso, THANK YOU so much for my giveaway package!! The zip pouch is so colorful and lovely--I can't wait to put it to use!! Are you on IG, by chance? I just went to IG my thanks and then couldn't find your @name. Thank you thank you thank you! I honestly had forgotten all about it so when I got the package, I was thinking "what did I order? I don't remember buying anything?" so it was so fun to open!! Thanks again! ps I am thinking I might eat a fishy chocolate for breakfast today ;)
Beautiful finishes.
ReplyDeleteI am so far behind on this project but I love how your blocks turned out! I especially love the quilt block and how you did a different design in each color. I really need to find some time to catch up (especially since this is a quilt I'm keeping all for myself)!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I thought the quilt block was a real quilt in the first photo! Your FMQ looks really good too.
ReplyDeleteYour quilting looks great. Perfect blocks to practice on. I LOVE the triangle quilt!
ReplyDeleteWoo-hoo! What beautifully creative quilting designs you chose! I have never done any QAYG before. I look forward to you showing me how it's done! LOL!
ReplyDeleteJenn, your FMQ is so fabulous! I would be thrilled if I could turn out things that great! The sewing machine and oooh that wonderful iron - they make my heart go pitter patter!
ReplyDeleteNice work and lovely finishes :)

Congratulations! Your work is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI had to look for the problem. Well fixed!
ReplyDeleteI particularly like the block that is made to look like a draped quilt. That one is very clever.
