OMG! February Goal

Remember way back when I finished J-Boy's Good Old Hockey Game?
Well, my hockey obsessed nephew's been loving it for over a year now and my sorry attempts at machine appliqué are showing some wear.
And then there's this wee bit of dye bleeding. I'm pretending it's not there. I figure it could have been a whole lot worse, given amount of white and red in this quilt!
What's my goal for February? Well, poor J-Boy has done without his quilt for long enough. He's going to lose faith in his Auntie's superpowers. I must fix those pesky appliqué bits. My plan is to apply the skills offered by January's installment of The Mighty Lucky Quilt Club and cover the sections with custom bias tape. Wish me luck!

I'm linking up with Red Letter Quilts for...

  4. Good luck with your fix. Broken from too much love is a good thing :) I love nice bright whites with dark colors, but always fear bleeding.

  9. I am always happy when the recipient of one of my quilts hugs it right through the stitches. Aren't you ? Good luck with your goal. It is a gorgeous quilt.

  10. I've had the same issues where I didn't use a wide enough zigzag stitch to hold everything in place. Glad to know it's well loved!

  11. YIKES! Red fabric next to white scares the crap out of me! So does purple! I hope you are able to fix the applique, it's such an awesome quilt!

  12. The red bleeding is just that: blood. Either a drop-gloves-hockey-sweater-over-the-head fight, or maybe it was a fall...I've even shed a little blood in playing street hockey with my cousins as a kid. Broke my glasses, ouch. I think your super-powers are up to the appliqué fix! Fabulous quilt btw. ;-)

  15. I think bias tape will work a treat - anything that is not raw edge. Best of luck, Super Aunty!
