Pssst.... just one week!

Until Throwback Thursday {Volume 10}!
On Thursday, May 5th, it's your chance to tell a tale from your dark, quilty past and show off a pre-blogging creation. It's amazing the inspiration you can take from these past quilts. I often imagine them in fresh, modern prints or re-done in crisp, bright Konas.

Along those lines, here's my Throwback for this week... From all the way back in 2005! I made SO many of these Thousand Pyramid quilts. In fact, the first ever Throwback Thursday post featured one!
I think I made this one for a co-worker's new grandbaby, hence the odd photo snapped in my office against my supply bookcase.
Some of these prints are still hanging around in my 2½ inch square scrap bin. And those butterflies... I bought an ungodly amount at (of all places) Walmart. Oh the folly of the beginner quilter!

Don't you just want to get out that fancy triangle ruler and start cutting into your scraps? Or even that yardage you've been hoarding? Come on. You know you want to!

Hope to see you next week for TBT {V.10}!

Psst... it's just a week away.

Throwback Thursday {Volume 8} is just one week away - Thursday, March 3rd!
Once again, it'll be your chance to link up a project from your dark, quilty past. Here's a little TBT inspiration for you - a New York Beauty wall hanging that I made back in the Summer of 2005. These pics are a testament to outdoor photo shoots. They're among the best I have from this era! Mind you, flopping it on the ground might not have been my finest hour of quilt styling.
Can you believe these colours? I can't say that I have much like this in my stash anymore. But that navy is a solid, so some things don't change!
Every time I take a good look at one of these TBT quilts, I get to thinking about how much fun it would be to re-make it in modern prints and colours. Can you envision a New York Beauty in Carolyn Friedlander or Cotton + Steel? I can!
I even FMQed the name of the quilt (and it's recipients) into the binding. How's that for dedication?
And if showing off your past projects wasn't enough, we've got a giveaway from a new sponsor, Dinky Doo Modern Fabrics. If you're into modern pre-cuts, you've got to check them out!

See you next Thursday!

Coming soon... Throwback Thursday {Volume 6}

Isn't it funny how time gets distorted in the short week between Christmas and New Year's Day? I was so busy declaring 2016 as The Year of The Stash and writing my Manifesto, that I didn't remind you about the upcoming Throwback Thursday for this month!
Hopefully you all had it marked in your Quilter's Planner (I'm still waiting on mine to arrive!) If you're new to TBT, it's your chance to link up a blog post about project from your dark quilty past. It's a great opportunity to tell, and read, some great quilty stories.

See you on Thursday, January 7th!

P.S. If you're interested in setting some stash busting goals and sticking to them, pop on over and read about The Year of The Stash!

Throwback Thursday {Volume 5} coming soon!

For all those of you who seem to have Throwback Thursday sneak up on you, get ready! Next Thursday, December 3rd will be {Volume 5} and the last TBT for 2015. Where on earth did this year go? Seems like just yesterday that I was Looking Both Ways and revising The List for 2015!
Since Christmas is almost upon us, I thought it would be fun to link up quilts from your dark Christmas-y past. You know, that horrendous pink poinsettia tree skirt you made for your mom or those stockings that took a year and half to make. Oh wait. That's me. ☺

But I digress. Here's a some Christmas #TBT to get you inspired.

It's a spider web tree skirt I made for the Parents in Law for the Christmas of 2012. They keep it out during the holidays even before the tree goes up by folding it and draping it over a trunk. I guess they like it. ☺ You can read about more presents I made that year in this post from the early days of A Quarter in From the Edge. It's all I can do not to go back and edit. Such small pics!

Hope to see you back next week with a Christmas quilt from your dark quilty past to link up. Or maybe it's a Hanukah table runner. Or a Kwanzaa wall hanging. Or Yule pillow. Or an item you gave to someone for one of those holidays. Or whatever. Just dust off those projects and take some pics... it's an equal opportunity link-up.  And there's a great prize from Fabric Please again this month!

P.S. Just a couple more days to get in on a sweet giveaway from Fridays Off Fabric

Just 7 sleeps...

... until Throwback Thursday {Volume 3}!
If you haven't linked up yet, next Thursday is your chance to share a post all about a project from your quilty past. The good, the bad, the ugly. Anything goes. Pull out a fav and give it a quilty photoshoot. Tell us a story about it.. or two!

To get you thinking for next week, here's my #TBT for this week.  Fall has arrived here in Nova Scotia and that crisp autumnal bite in the air is turning my thoughts to camping. Probably because for a decade or so, I helped organize an outdoor skills competition for junior high aged Girl Guides. This little quilt is as close as I'm likely to get to camping this year!
This paper pieced mini was completed back in 2011. The pattern was from a long since discarded Quiltmaker magazine.  I was pretty darned impressed with the FMQ I did in the borders. It mimics the foliage in the batik.
Love this little campfire... more FMQ to create flames.
Hope to see you back next Thursday with a story to tell!

P.S. I just realized this is my 300th post! I'm probably the only person on earth excited about that, but it makes me smile, and smiling is good! ☺

It's coming... #TBT!

Hey everyone! Just a friendly reminder that next, Thursday, September 3rd, is Throwback Thursday {Volume 2} here at A Quarter Inch from the Edge!
You've still got time to snap some fresh pics of an oldie but goodie and show it off in a blog post! You know you've got a few gems hanging around.  I dug into the photo vault for this one... a Trip Around the World (à la Eleanor Burns) that I gifted to a co-worker way back in 2004.
Thankfully, my quilt photo taking has improved. Far fewer feet are captured in my pics these days!
Not a Kona to be seen in this one. So very country! If only I had a close up of the fabrics to show you... you'd never believe they came from my stash.

Hope to see you next Thursday for the link-up!
