A Bit of Brit for an Aussie Pal!

My bloggy pal Carla from Granny Maud's Girl was kind enough to send me some of the lovely Polaroid blocks I've been working with lately. I offered to send her a few blocks of her choosing in exchange. Now that I know they've safely arrived in Australia, I can share them with you!
Carla's plotting a Union Jack quilt and she wrote a lovely paper piecing tutorial for the blocks. It made it very easy to get those skinny angled bits just right. I went for traditional colours on these, even though I was told I could make whatever I liked! The Pearl Bracelets and Sunprint Text make me awfully happy!
I couldn't resist sneaking a little something Canadian into the blocks. Many thanks to Dominque @ The Running Thimble for sharing this maple leaf print from her stash!
Since Carla sent me such a lovely giftie along with the Polaroid blocks....
I just had to send her a little something along with the blocks. I had a fun little EPP hexie pouch in my stash. Lots of lovely Amy Butler florals made it into this one.
And tucked inside... some fun buttons. I wish my LQS would make some more of these. They're perfect gifties for quilty pals.
Don't you just love swapping with bloggy, quilty pals? If you've never done it, don't be afraid to put the offer out there. There are few things more fun that squishy surprise envelopes arriving in the mail!

  1. Oh, I bet Carla loves the blocks you made for her. I really like that you kept to the traditional color scheme, and the maple leaves in the red print are an awesome touch! Buttons really are a fun trading item; I wasn't sold before I went to QuiltCon last year, and I hope to have some to take with me the next quilt shot I attend.

  5. Lovely blocks! The pearl bracelet and texty fabric one is my favorite, but those maple leaves are cute too. ) I've never participated in a swap before, but any mail that doesn't contain a bill is fun mail for me! Hahaha

  6. I have always loved the Union Jack design.... But I steer clear of paper piecing. Your blocks turned out beautifully and I love that you were able to add the Maple Leaf print!

  9. They are here and they are amazing. Now I just need an assembly plan. Yup. I do not know what to do next. Maybe I will just pin my snazzy new pins on my sewing guild nametag lanyard and think about it for a while ...
