ALYOF - August Goal & An Uber Quick Finish!

It's hard to believe we're already on month 8 of A Lovely Year of Finishes! This has, to date, been one of the most rewarding link-up/alongs that I've ever done. Setting a monthly goal - no matter how small - has been very motivating. And then there's the added bonus of prizes. I've won a few! Thanks, Melissa @ Sew Bittersweet Designs and Shanna @ Fibre of All Sorts!

But what am I going to do this month? I've made a considerable dent in The List and this month I feel like I deserve to do some selfish sewing. So my goal is to turn this....
lovely pile of Carol Friedlander Doe Blueprint into...
Beatrixalong Day 8
http://www.made-by-rae.com/category/patterns/beatrix/

... a lovely Beatrix top designed by the creative brain behind Made by Rae. I've got the fabric and the pattern and fully intended to join in on the #Beatrixalong. If only I didn't have small people foiling my well laid plans. I really need to make something for myself before I use up all my yardage on things for other people. Small people. People, like GT, who absolutely needed a white top for tomorrow's family photoshoot.
Her's is the top version of the Geranium Dress I made a while back, also from Made by Rae
I managed to get this almost finished during naptime today... all but the snaps! I'm pretty impressed with myself on this. Nevermind that BT's shirt isn't ironed and that my blouse hasn't been taken in... GT has a lovely shirt to wear. I'm linking up this little finish over at TGIFF @ Quokka Quilts and Finish Up Friday @ Crazy Mom Quilts. A finish is a finish, no matter how small!

I'm also linking up this post with the August Goal Setting Party for ALYOF... just under the wire again. When will I learn?

  4. Well done. Baby clothes may be small, but they are just as much work as big clothes. Maybe more work, as the pieces are so tiny!

  5. Such an adorable shirt for GT :) Good for you for making something for yourself and keeping it :) I know every project I make, I want to keep them all but I give most away. Every once in a while I make and keep a project for myself :)

  6. Adorable! Clothes, too! I need a lesson on garment sewing. I'm terrified of it. LOVE that Doe print, though. You may have squeaked in just under the wire, but at least you squeaked in. I decided I'm taking August off from ALYoF since it's a typical vacation month anyway, AND I don't know what project I can realistically finish by the end of August that isn't for some sort of secret sewing. Well, I do, but really I just didn't have time to post about it. So. Vacation. With maybe some sewing.

I can't wait to see your top. You totally can do it *elbow bump*! Just drop your kiddos off with us. What's 5 kids when I already have 3? ;) If only...
