Sunday Stash - Winner, winner!

Nope... no chicken dinner! But there is fabric... and we all know that's what you junkies are looking for in a Sunday Stash post. And better yet, I didn't buy any of it! I had a very lucky evening at this week's monthly meeting of the Maritime Modern Quilt Guild. First I snagged the prize for the "wear your name tag" prize.
A spool of thread and this nifty chalk pen. Has anyone out there used one of these? It's a new notion to me and I'm very curious. Also, thoughts on the thread from Connecting Threads? How well does it stay on one's machine with the spool shape?

And then I won this FQ bundle! It's curated by our PEI Leader, Heather and donated by the Canadian on-line shop, Fabric Please. If the jealousy is consuming you, you can order your own bundle. MMQG members even get a discount!
Here are the deets - or as many I can scrounge up with limited selvages! - Reel Time Film Strips in Chalk Ink (Moda), Hashmark Hash Dot in Papaya (Michael Miller), Boys will be Boys in blue (Freespirit), Block Party in Sunshine (Moda), Reel Time Lenses in Multi (Moda), Passport Etchings by 3 Sisters (Moda), and Jazz Jam Piano Keys in Grey (Andover)

I definitely was on a winning streak that night! Damn. I forgot to buy a lottery ticket on the way home! Oh well. I'm linking up today with Sunday Stash, though Blossom Hearts had to pinch hit for the up to his @#$hole in cardboard boxes, but ever glittery, Molli Sparkles.

  1. What? Somehow I miss all the fun!! The chalk pen looks like fun actually! I've used chalk before, but these look like they wouldn't break or have a huge line width! Lucky girl Jenn! Moral of the story: always wear your name tag!!

  3. Congrats on your wins . I have the same marking pencil and it works fine , a bit of a heavier line so be careful . As for the thread I have lots of these and they are great . I would say it is wise to use the same thread in the bobbin to prevent tension issues .

  6. I have had one of those chalk pens for years! I love it! Use it a lot. My friends who have visited my sewing room, and those in my sewing group have all used it ( borrowed it) bought their own- comment the first time { " man, you always have the coolest tools/ gadgets!"} Great prizes you won, congratulations! Sounds like a fun time.

  11. I don't know anything about the pen, but I do know about the thread. I've used it for years and I LOVE it. It works just like any other thread. Not too much lint, doesn't break any more than any other thread. I use it, I've given it, and I use it more than any other thread. Aurafil is beautiful but way too expensive for me.

    1. I'm definitely hoping for a review, too!! I am always on the lookout for something I trust enough to use for marking quilts. As of now, my trusted and oft used list includes: hera marker, freezer paper, painters tape. Aka, nothing that actually leaves a mark. Congrats on the great winnings!

  15. Congratulations. I've got one of those chalk pencil sets. Just be careful marking darker fabrics - I've found it doesn't always come out totally. Do a bit of google research, and test on a scrap first.
