Sunday Stash - Off the wagon. And climbing back on.

This strange thing keeps happening. I feel like I have less and less time to sew and yet, I'm still buying fabric. Honestly. How will I deplete my stash at this rate? I've fallen off the Year of the Stash bandwagon. But I'm not beating myself up. Fabric is fun.

Miss K and I had a fun day out this week and headed to the lovely south shore towns of Mahone Bay and Lunenburg. These towns are quaint and scenic, with lovely eateries and shops. One can easily wander a day (or a few) away! Once we chowed down on a tasty lunch at the Biscuit Eater and purused the wares at Northern Sun and The Teaser in Mahone Bay, we headed down the road to Lunenburg, home of the Lunenburg Makery.

Anja @ Anja Quilts has been busy collecting Row by Row patterns and I fell hard for The Makery's pattern. That house with the classic Lunenburg Bump and dories (not the Nemo kind). Though I could get the pattern for free, I bought the kit so I could get the cool little Dory Shop sign! I also picked up some wool felt to get started on this lovely Advent Calendar. 
Lunenburg Makery only carries one line of designer fabrics. Isn't that a shame? Not when it's Cotton + Steel! I treated myself to a few little FQs.
And then that pesky Chris ☺ over at Patch Halifax had to post a pic of a stack of sale fabrics on her Instagram feed. Honestly. Just not fair. I spied that beautiful Lizzy House strawberry print that I've been crushing on since it first arrived in the shop. 25% off? Yes, please! I'm tucking it away for a summer Geranium dress for GT next year!

I have no excuse for this crabby little FQ except for the fact that Himself works with crabs. And when one sees cute crab fabric, one buys it.

I filled in some of the gaps in my wool felt selection in preparation for making this awesome Advent Calendar.

I'm still going to need to order some more colours on-line. And beads. And sequins. I may have (okay... I have definitely) bitten off more than I can chew.

Sunday Stash - Happy Birthday to me!

Hmmm.... I can almost hear you. Wait a sec. Isn't her birthday in February? And her blogoversary is in July, isn't it? (I know you have those marked on your calendars - they're giftable holidays afterall).Okay, okay. It wasn't my birthday. But a lovely little LQS, Patch Halifax, had their birthday party yesterday and I couldn't resist celebrating a little. Namely, by taking advantage of a sweet discount!

I've been in love with Lizzy House's Natural History for Andover from the get go. I don't think I'm alone in that... a lot of the prints are sold out at Mad About Patchwork and the bolts at Patch are looking SLIM. I don't want them to disappear before I get some more in my stash. I snagged pieced of Star Chart in Night Metallic (I resisted the Turquoise... so much already in the stash) as and Twinkle Twinkle in Midnight Blue.

I've been eyeing the Butterfly Box in Bright and Blue. The Green pathway doesn't speak to me... not so many green butterflies out there in the world!

And because I'm a full on Cotton & Steel Basics junkie, I picked up some Sprinkles in Black Cat.

Do I have a purpose for these? Not so much. But the Star Chart and Butterfly Box prints are sure to appear in some Polaroid Blocks!

The Mother of All Sunday Stashes

Okay... I went a little overboard. Take a deep breath, dear readers. You are about to be overwhelmed by fabric-y goodness. Feel free to pet your screen (or come over for a visit, cuddle a twin, and pet it in person).

It all started when I decided I could no longer do without the new Kona colour card and that I deserved a little treat for all the long hours I've been working. LOL.

 

Don't worry... they're not all for me. I did a public service and ordered on behalf of some of my MMQG peeps. It's the length of my ironing board - Six pages of Kona-y goodness! If you're looking for one of your own, check out Fabric Spot (They're found, oddly enough, in the book section!)

And dang it all... didn't some Cotton & Steel fall into my virtual cart? Oops! Oooohhh... ViewFinders!

And then Sew Sisters had a flash sale... 20% off all yardage. AND I had a gift certificate. A deadly combination to be sure. I started out with a selection of Kona 2014 colours.

 

Malibu, Titanium, Heliotrope, Grasshopper, and Limelight. And then this caught my eye - a mini Hex'nMore ruler. Do I have a project in mind? Nope! ☺

And then some Ann Kelle prints fell into my virtual shopping basket. How does this keep happening? Those bunnies will make some very cute Easter clothes! And the unicorns? Well, they're unicorns. Enough said.

Flannel pirate jammie pants, anyone? I see some BBBP (Big Butt Baby Pants) in my future! BT is gonna love these!

The second installment of my Christmas present from the Z's rolled in too! Another FQ bundle from Fridays Off Fabric Shop.

There's Adornit's Patchwork Arrow in White and Acorns Falling in Blue, as well as some Dear Stella Confetti Dots in Tomato. Don't you just love these Lewis & Irene Foxes in Red, Brown, and Grey?

And the lovely owner, Alanna, made a special effort to include some tasty selvages. Talk about special! Thanks, Alanna!

I think my fav of this bundle might be Patchwork Arrow's chevron-y-ness. Reminds me of a certain pillow I've been working on!

And then my actual birthday rolled around. And Patch Halifax had a SALE! I just happened to be there for a MMQG meeting. This print from Carol Friedlander's Doe line called to me!

As did this Cotton & Steel print on lawn. I've already made it into an infinity scarf! It didn't last 24 hours as yardage (or meterage... we are metric after all!)

Guess what else happens on one's birthday at my LQS? Double discount! Yup... this pile of Kona 2014 colours happened.

I've got two options here.
1) Blame everything on the Month of the Dark Lord (as February is known at my place of work). It's a dark, dark time and needs the acquisition of fabric to perk things up.

2) Own the fact that I bought myself a big ole pile of fabric-y goodness to celebrate my birthday month.

Yesterday when I stepped out into the March sunshine, it sure did feel like spring was here. We'll see if I need to keep self-medicating with fabric...
